Spring is in the air! This time of year everyone and everything starts coming back to life, and what better way to come back to life than to get outdoors and enjoy the city!

Here is a list of 5 awesome fun things that are coming up in May, you don't want to miss out!

1. Cinco De Mayo celebration at the Grand Sierra Resort- Saturday, May 5, 2018 - 12 noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 - 12 noon to 8 p.m.

This annual Cinco de Mayo event is northern Nevada's largest celebration of Latino heritage. It will be at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, in the southeast parking area. Admission to the event is $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12 and seniors over 65. Once in, all musical entertainment is free. Bring the family and join the 2018 Cinco de Mayo party.

2. Reno River Festival- May 12th and 13th

The 2018 Reno River Festival will be at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 - 13. This event is free to attend and has become one of the top draws among Reno's other big annual events. The Reno River Festival just keeps getting bigger and better. There is plenty of water in the Truckee River for whitewater events and lots of dry land fun like the Reno River Roll. Whitewater kayaking competitions are the main reason for the Reno River Festival, but there is much more - free music and yoga in Wingfield Park, lots of food and drink (not free), free kayak, canoe, and flyfishing clinics, an Reno Tahoe Adventure Park, Smuggler's Village, Craft Beer Village, Summer Wine Village, and Pub N Grub Village. You can freely enjoy the white water kayaking during both days. Some events, such as slalom and boatercross, are fast and provide plenty of exciting action. You don't have to get wet to have fun, but it is an option.

3. Reno Aces Ballpark

There are many Aces baseball games scheduled in May that you won't want to miss out on. Our Reno Aces are a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) Triple-A team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Aces play in the Pacific Coast League. The Reno Aces' home field is Greater Nevada Field in downtown Reno at 250 Evans Avenue and W. 2nd Street, next to the Truckee River. This is a great stadium - it's small enough that everyone can be close to the action and big enough to have all the services (a variety of food and drink, Team Shop, Freight House District entertainment, etc.) needed to make attending games a fun and entertaining experience. This event is open to all 1976 and older vehicles, with free entry for all Hot August Nights 2018 registered car participants. The entry fee for non-registered participants is $35. It's free for the public to attend and enjoy the fun. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

5. Strange Beer Festival- May 19th 3:00pm-7:00pm

This is a celebration of uniquely crafted brews from local breweries. Expect the unexpected! Most of the offerings from our local breweries will only be available at this festival. We’re talking about uncommon beer, in many cases specially crafted for this event. These brews will challenge your taste buds, your ideas of beers, and your sensibilities. Strange Brew will be complimented with live music from local bands and a tasty BBQ too. A truly different kind of brew festival for the beer geek in all of us!
