Reno Earth Day 2017!!!
Although Earth Day will be Saturday April 22nd 2017, the annual event dedicated to appreciation of the Earth will be taking place Sunday April 23rd 2017 from 11 a.m. - 6p.m. and open ceremonies starting at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held at its usual destination at Idlewild Park.
Every year the event is packed full of people in the community enjoying all the festivities that comes along with it. There are countless sponsors and local vendors that are involved in the event each year and it only seems to keep growing.
Transportation:
Bus - RTC #16 bus will drop passengers off at Booth and Idlewild. Make sure to take your bus ticket to the RTC booth to earn your prize.
Walk - Earth Day promotes keeping the earth clean and free of smog emissions and what better way to do that then keeping the car at home for a day and walking the local trails to Idlewild.
Bike - Get those legs pumping and make sure to take out your bike for the day. The Reno Bike Project will be offering free bike valet right in front of the California building and Many Spokes For Many Folks will be offering free monitored bike parking the day of the event. Stop by Many Spokes For Many Folks booth and let them know that you rode your bike to the event and get your prize ticket.
Rideshare and Carpool - Make sure to register for a carpool through RTC and once you carpool the the event verify your registration at the RTC booth to receive your prize ticket. This is quick and easy to get a group of friends, family or peers together and save emissions for the day. If you are flying solo no need to worry, RTC has a TRIP MATCH which allows you to find other people coming to the event.
Free Parking - Reno High School will be offering free parking for the event and shuttles will be transporting people from the high school to the event pretty much most of the day.
If you are using your car in the park, neighborhood, high school or surrounding area make sure to not keep your engine on and remember the events slogan "Turn Your Key, Be Idle Free".
